Hazrat Fatema’s (sa) Protest in Masjidun Nabawi

Hazrat Fatema said, “O Abu Bakr, how soon did you turn your face away from the Ahle’ Bayt (a.s.) of the Prophet (s.a.w.)? By Allah, I will not speak to Umar for what remains of my life. O Abu Bakr! I share no relationship with you of any kind and of any manner.”

At this time, Janabe’ Zahra (s.a.) left her house in the condition that she had worn the headdress of the Prophet (s.a.w.). Imam Hasan (a.s.) and Imam Hussain (a.s.) were clutching at her fingers and tears were streaming down her face. She was separating the people while accompanied by the women of Bani Hashim who were also weeping.

She cried out, “O Abu Bakr, how soon did you turn your face away from the Ahle’ Bayt (a.s.) of the Prophet (s.a.w.)? By Allah, I will not speak to Umar for what remains of my life.[1]O Abu Bakr! I share no relationship with you of any kind and of any manner. Do you wish make my children, orphans and me, a widow?

Heart rending Nauha for Fatema Zahra (sa)- "YA ZAHRA YA ZAHRA"

Here is a Nauha by Shuja Rizvi . It outlines the grief of Imam Mahdi (as) for his grandmother Hazrat Zahra (sa). DO take a look at it and recommend it to others as well.

"AADHI RAAT KI TAARIKI MEIN , LEKAR CHASHME TAR
AAJATE HAIN MERE MAULA , QABRE ZAHRA PAR "

"HAI KARBE IMAM E ZAMANA , QABRE ZAHRA PAR
YA ZAHRA YA ZAHRA , YA ZAHRA YA ZAHRA "

The Grave of Hazrat Fatema (sa) remains a secret till today…

In the darkness of the jet-black night, when eyes were asleep and voices were silent, a Heavenly procession left Ali’s house while carrying the Messenger of Allah’s daughter to her final abode.  The heartbreaking procession moved towards an unknown location followed by a small number of devoted ones… They were Ali, Hassan, Hussain, Zainab and Umme Kulthum… Abu Dhar, Ammar, Miqdad, and Salman were following them.
Where were the thousands who inhabited Medina?! One asks, and the answer came: Fatima (A) requested that they may not be present at her funeral!!

JANNATUL BAQI BEFORE DESTRUCTION
Failing Attempts
At sunrise people gathered to participate in Fatima’s funeral, but they were informed that the darling of Allah’s Messenger (S) had been secretly buried during the night.Meanwhile, Ali (A) made the shapes of four fresh graves in Baqi’ so as to conceal the location where Fatima was buried. When the people entered the graveyard, they were confused as to which spot was actually Lady Fatima Zahra’s grave; the people turned towards each other and with feelings of guilt said:

"Our Prophet (S) has not left behind but one daughter, yet she has died and was buried without our participation in the funeral or the prayer rituals. We do not even realize the place where she has been buried”

The Immortal, Historic Sermon of Fatema

The Life of Fatima Az Zahra by Baqar Al Qarashi

“O People! Be informed that I am Fatima, and my father is Muhammad. I say that repeatedly and initiate it continually. I say not what I say mistakenly, nor do I do what I do aimlessly.”

Fatima (a.s.) could bear no more, for the severe procedures of Abu Bakr against her were very hard and painful. Therefore, she decided to announce her proofs and block any way that Abu Bakr might follow to justify his policy. She made a striking speech in the Mosque of the Prophet where she dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s. She proved herself to be the greatest woman that Allah had ever created in the earth with the unique talents, geniuses, wisdom, and eloquence she had.
Due to the great importance of this sermon, the Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) taught their children to memorize it as they taught them to memorize the Holy Qur’an.

OPPRESSING AL-ZAHRA’ (A.S.) IN CENTURIES OF ARABIC POETRY - PART III

13. Sayyid Baqir al-Hindi (d. 1329 A.H.)

The great scholar and the prominent poet, Sayyid Baqir son of Sayyid Muhammed al-Hindi, has said,

You don’t know with fire they burned the door,
Thus they hoped to put out, with fire, the noor.
You don’t know what nail had to do
With Fatima’s chest, if you only knew
In what condition her broken rib was
What miscarriage, why red were her eyes,
Why her ear-rings on the ground did scatter,
Unveiled was she when her house they did enter,
As Ali looked on, the man of manliness
The honorable, the fearless.
The Lion of Allah did they harass,
Like a camel did they lead him in duress.
The Batal behind them stumbled
On the tail of her robe which they pulled
With moaning that in the hearts did it ignite
The fire, and in anxiety that melted the stones of height.
She called upon them: Let my cousin Ali alone or I
To the Hearing One, the Seeing, shall I cry.
They paid her no heed,
By them she was scared indeed,
So they took Ali as a captive away,
Tied, like a captive; they had their day.

OPPRESSING AL-ZAHRA’ (A.S.) IN CENTURIES OF ARABIC POETRY - PART II

7. `Ala’ ad-Din al-Hilli (killed in 786 A.H.)

The virtuous scholar and the accomplished man of letters `Ala’ ad-Din son of Shaikh Ali ibn al-Husain al-Hilli al-Shafhani, a contemporary to the First Martyr, who, may Allah have mercy on him, explained some of his poets, said,

They unanimously agreed upon it, with their whims,
Ignorance and hope, to burn the house of al-Zahra’
Fatima! What an awful momentous thing to do!
A house wherein five whose sixth is Gabriel
Without a reason set ablaze,
And the Murtada from his home forcibly taken...[5]

The Magnificence of Fatema Zahra (a.s.)

'AS SALAAMO ALAIKA YA BINTA RASOOL LILLAH"

On the occasion of the Martydom of Janabe Fatima Zahra (s.a), 14th Jamaadul Awwal 1432 AH. ( 19th April 2011)

To speak about Hazrat Fatema Zahra (Allah’s Salutation be on her, and her parents, and her husband, and on her progeny) is beyond our ability. Janabe Fatema (a.s.) is called Fatema because nobody can fathom her position. The only way to understand her august position is from the sayings of the Holy Infallibles (a.s.). A point to be noted here is that Holy Imams (a.s.) spoke to the people according to their level of intellect. Thus, our discussions in following paragraphs are only the glimpses of the esteem position of Janabe Zahra (s.a.).

The following are some of the quotations from the books of Ahle Sunnah describing the virtues and position of Janabe Zahra (s.a.).

The Lady of Paradise in the grip of misfortunes and grief

On the day, when the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) expired, there was not a single minor or major who was not overtaken by grief. Everybody was sobbing and weeping. Friends, relatives and kinsmen all were grief stricken and crying. There was a thick pall of gloom everywhere. But the most shocked personality on the face of earth was the daughter of the Prophet (s.a.w.a.).
A week had elapsed since the death of the Prophet yet, she (s.a.) was continuously and profusely crying and grieving. She had confined herself in her house.
On the eighth day, she could not control her emotions, and broke down sobbing. The ladies around came out hearing her laments to console her. Janabe Siddiqa Tahera (s.a.) had extinguished all lamps of her house, and was sitting in darkness to avoid recognition. Janabe Siddiqa Tahera (s.a.) overwhelmed with grief addressed her father (s.a.w.a.) as follows :
O’ Father!
O’ Messenger of Allah!
O’ Mohammed Mustafa!
O’ Abul Qasim!
O’ The anchor and shelter of orphans!
Who is there to hear the complaints of your dear daughter who is on the verge of death and who is there to do justice to her.

OPPRESSING AL-ZAHRA’ (A.S.) IN CENTURIES OF ARABIC POETRY - PART I

INTRODUCTION :

Poetry is a Reliable Historical Chronicle :
The poets throughout history have thoroughly covered what al-Zahra’ (A.S.) underwent of oppression, persecution, beating and miscarriage since the first generations and till our time. They make their poetry target those who participated in all of that or did not stop it. Some of them were contemporary to the Imams (A.S.), or their time was close to that of the Imam’s.
This is regarded as a reliable and strong historical record. Its strength underscores the fact that its contexts were true as it was transmitted by traditionists and historians. Here we would like to cite a bouquet of such poetry in successive centuries and till our time:

1. Sayyid al-Himyari (d. 173 A.H.)
Sayyid al-Himyari, may Allah have mercy on him, was contemporary to Imams al-Sadiq (A.S.) and al-Kazim (A.S.) and he says the following:

Beaten, she was, and of her rights deprived,
And was made to taste after his demise of wounds.
God sever the hands that her did they hit,
And of that who agreed thereto and followed suit.
God may never forgive him nor
Spare him of the horror of leaving the grave.[1]

Janabe Fatimah Zahra's Protests Against Abu Bakr Actions

Fatimah (AS) felt grieved by Abu Bakr's actions, and was so displeased with him that when she knew of his attempt to seize Fadak, she accompanied a group of women to the mosque. There she sat down and delivered the following speech:

Praise be to Allah for that which He bestowed (upon us); And thanks be to Him for all that which He inspired; and commended in His Name for that which He Provided: From prevalent favors which He created, And abundant benefactions which He offered and perfect grants which He presented; (such benefactions) that their number is much too plentiful to compute; Bounties too vast to measure;

Their limit was too distant to realize; He recommended to them (His creatures) to gain more (of His benefaction) by being grateful for their continuity; He ordained Himself praiseworthy by giving generously to His creatures; I bear witness that there is no God but Allah Who is One with out partner, a statement which sincere devotion is made to be its interpretation; hearts guarantee its continuation, and dominated in the minds is its sensibility. He Who can not be perceived with vision; neither be described with tongues; nor can imagination surround His state.

ABU BAKR'S FAMILY VERSUS FATIMA’S PROGENY THROUGHOUT HISTORY

The early injustices done by Abu Bakr against Lady Fatima Zahra (A), paved the way for his offspring to do the same against the Prophet's progeny. Sayyid Safdar Hussain, in his valuable book The Early History of Islam p.242, summarized the wrongdoings committed by the Bakrs (the descendants of Abu Bakr) against Fatima (A) and her descendants in several points. He wrote:

"History shows that Abu Bakr himself and his whole family (excepting Asma and her son Muhammad) were hostile to the Prophet's family, in utter disregard to what the Quran ordained or what the Prophet had said relating to the respect and love for his family. The following is the list of those whose hostility was distinctively marked:

1. Abu Bakr, on his accession to the Caliphate, sent Umar to Fatima's house to compel Ali, by force, to come in and do fealty to him. Umar threatened to burn the house down upon Fatima, and brought Ali under escort to Abu Bakr where he was so humiliated and insulted that he cried bitterly at the tomb of the Prophet complaining against the treatment he had received. Subsequently, Fatima was so much grieved by Abu Bakr that as long as she survived her father, she never spoke a word to Abu Bakr and on her deathbed she forbade his joining her funeral.
